Hosted by the Journal of Commerce, TPM 2022 in Long Beach, California is a major international container shipping trade conference that presents the industry’s most in-depth program delving into the most pressing challenges affecting container shippers in North America and globally. The Aspen Institute Shipping Decarbonization Initiative was invited to create and moderate a session titled, “Shippers and Sustainability: Carving a Path to Decarbonization”

Moderated by Aspen SDI Director Ingrid Irigoyen, the session featured coZEV 2040 Ambition Statement signatories, with representatives from IKEA, Michelin and Unilever, as well as leadership from the Port of Los Angeles. Together, they discussed the importance of beneficial cargo owners (BCOs) publicly committing to ambitious decarbonization goals and the role of BCOs to drive ambition and accelerate decarbonization action across the shipping value chain.
