Posted November 05, 2021 • coZEV
In support of the coZEV mission and 2040 Ambition Statement released recently, the Aspen Institute Shipping Decarbonization Initiative partnered with the World Economic Forum, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, the Global Maritime Forum, University College London Energy Institute, and other partners to develop the First Movers Coalition maritime shipping commitment - announced today, November 4th, 2021, at COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.
The shipping commitment sets new 2030 targets for carriers and cargo owners toward decarbonizing the international shipping industry. Crucially, the 2040 goals for cargo owners outlined in the First Movers Coalition shipping commitment aligns with the ambition set by the 2040 coZEV Ambition Statement - 100% of ocean freight transported on ships using zero-emission fuels.
